Please follow these tips to stay safe and assist our snowplow drivers this winter.
When snow blowing or shoveling your driveway, please do not put snow back into the roadway after it's been plowed. During cold periods, this snow gets frozen and compacted and can create ‘speed bump-like’ hazards in the road.
Kids playing in snow piles at the end of a street, or in the center of a cul-de-sac, or along the edge of the road, should be careful around snowplows. Parents, please talk to your children about playing safely, especially when snowplows are in the area.
Respect and assist snowplow drivers as they clear roadways and keep the driving public safe.
- Understand that snowplows are exempt from many rules of the road. Watch for things like frequent lane changes and backing up.
- It is important to keep a safe following distance behind snowplows. Watch how closely you follow them, be sure to not get in-between multiple plows working together in groups, and never try to pass a snowplow.
