Citizens Academy

The Germantown Police Department Citizens' Academy is a course designed to provide citizens with a better understanding of the operations of our Police Department. The Citizens' Academy is 7-weeks long and consists of 13 classes held once a week on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. One of the classes is in two parts and is held on the Saturday following the Tuesday class from 8:00 am to 10:30 am. The next Citizens' Academy is scheduled to begin on March 24th, 2026. We will be accepting a total of 16 participants.

Eligibility


You must:

  • Be a minimum age of 18
  • Have a valid Driver's License
  • Have no criminal convictions or arrests
  • Pass a background check

Please return all completed and signed applications & waivers to CPO/Investigator Adam Bartelt. The applications and waivers can be either emailed to abartelt@germantownpolicewi.gov or dropped off at the Germantown Police Department. All applications and waivers must be submitted by March 10th, 2026, at 12:00 pm.

Alumni Group 


Opportunities for continued interaction with the Police Department are offered to academy graduates. We have numerous volunteer opportunities, including the Christmas Parade, July 4th Parade, our Neighbors Against Crime Night Out, and various other events.
